DUBAI: Stock markets in the UAE edged higher on Tuesday, with telecom company Du leading a rise in Dubai and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) driving Abu Dhabi gains. Bank and real estate stocks lift Abu Dhabi’s main index to close up 0.81 percent at 3,384 points. National Bank of Abu Dhabi was the index’s top heavyweight gainer, rising 4.25 percent. Aldar Properties and Sorouh Real Estate ended up 4.73 percent and 1.79 percent respectively.In Dubai, the main index closed 0.29 percent higher at 2,915 points.
Emaar Properties rose 2.11 percent, while Union Properties gained 2 percent. Du telecom rose 3.16 percent.
“Investors are anticipating the results of the US presidential elections,” said Sherif Abdelkhalik, institutional accounts manager at Beltone Financial.
“Economists are expecting that a Democratic win could be positive for the markets and the economy.”
