SRINAGAR: The Chairmen of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani have said that the so-called elections in presence of seven-lac Indian troops are meaningless and shame for democratic values. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Mirwaiz said that the elections were held under the barrel of the gun. He pointed out that heavy deployment of troops in every nook and corner of the valley had once again unveiled the real face of Indian democracy. Syed Ali Gilani maintained that in presence of the troops totally hostile to the population no one could expect free and fair elections. Meanwhile, the Amnesty International in a statement issued in Washington, expressed concern over the arrest of human rights defender, Pervaiz Imroz by Indian authorities.
