The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is considering developing Jinnah Super Market into a “City Centre” of the federal capital to attract tourists, stated CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Wednesday. He was talking to the traders during his visit to the Jinnah Super Market here. The chairman said that the Authority would give a detailed presentation to traders and other stakeholders on the concept.

He asked the traders to come up with concrete proposals and suggestions in this regard. “The market is one of the popular shopping centres of the country. Everyone, who visits the capital knows it and is a distinguishing feature of Islamabad,” he noted.

He assured the traders that top priority was being attached to resolving their problems at their doorstep. He said that, as first step, a ‘Special Task Force’ has started functioning. “Under it, coordinators have been appointed at different markets of the city,” he elaborated.

He said the CDA was focusing on development of the city and provision of the civic facilities to the citizens in consultation with them.
